The Monster Project

A reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere! These interpretations of kids’ drawings are spectacular.

Pokemon Weapon Art by @rebusalpa

An inspiring reminder that creativity comes from anywhere, and to just keep meshing two supposedly unrelated things over and over until one eventually becomes right.

In this post I wanted to save this repository of all these Pokemon mashed with multiple styles of weapons, as if they were to wield their own for battle. Rico Busalpa, under the Instagram tag @rebusalpa, seems to be uploading one Pokemon evolution per day.

San Jose 1/3: The Museum of Art

This past weekend in mid-January I was fortunate enough to have visited San Jose for the first time!

My time here was rather limited since I was here for a big Smash event (in an upcoming post), but whenever I’m visiting somewhere new I always make it a priority to explore the city and its renowned galleries and museums as much possible. Over here, I decided to check out the Museum of Art and the Tech Museum of Innovation. I’ll be talking about the former here.

Icon A Day

Icon A Day is an awesome project started by Marko Stupić of Five Agency, a mobile design and development firm. Since August of last year, Marko decided to challenge himself by drawing an icon every day for an entire year. They naturally became full-on illustrations as Marko became a stronger designer, and by the end of this month Marko will have reached his full year! The above left icon was his very first illustration for this project, and the right illustration depicts his illustration skills 11 months later.

His blog post talking about this challenge is exactly everything I would have said if he did not write it up himself. He talks about commitment, putting in consistent work, and getting feedback and support from friends and the design community. There’s no secret to becoming an amazing designer, but if there were, this project is it. His design skills definitely surpass mine, even when he just started this project, and the amount of effort he’s put into this shows as his most recent work is simply jaw-dropping.

Definitely something I will consider doing sometime in the near future, my main reason for writing up this post so I myself don’t forget about it! Check out his work by clicking the images above (or here)!

Welcome to the Creation Game

You’ve reached one of the many creation corners of the Internet! Why stay here? (If you haven’t yet, check out my About page first!) As a fresh college grad, my mind has opened up so much to what the world has to offer, and every day I’m trying to figure things out and try to not just survive but exceed in life. My goal is to explore my world of creativity – in every shape and form, or the “full stack.” Not just in the arts! Not just on the web! See for yourself! I’ll be blogging about the following:

  • Arts and Design
  • Software Engineering
  • Technology and Inventions
  • Creating Our Future
  • Creating Our Ideal Selves
  • Creating a Step Closer to Utopia

If you’ve also just recently finished your education and are starting out in the real world, no matter what field there’s no doubt it’s pretty intimidating, and I am quite so intimidated myself as I’ve just started working my first full-time job last month in April 2015! We kids in our early 20’s – we’ve got a lot of catching up to do, especially as creatives. Consumers, they’ve got it easy. They’re simply absorbing everything that’s thrown at them. Us creators, we’re creating it; we’re using every ounce of brain power to bring new things to life every single day. And without us, there wouldn’t be anything in this world! The creation game is gonna be difficult, but I hope you join this aspiring innovator on this crazy ride.

For everyone else, I’ll be sharing not just inspiration of good art, good apps, good designs, or even good books, but my thoughts of how people make them, how people come up with the idea, and how people come up with how to come up with the idea. I’ll be scavenging throughout the world’s resources on creativity, again not just in the arts but in every aspect of our lives, including our own future and society. On thinking, on better ourselves, on success and striving for sheer happiness and bliss. We’re unicorns. Or at least striving to become one.

If we’re gonna make something, let’s make it big.
